Public Affairs Chief

This position is part of the Ohio EMA Executive Staff and manages the internal, external, public affairs, media, and public inquiries for the Agency.  Creative control of the four Ohio EMA administered websites, social media content creation, media releases, annual reports, and team building. Training new staff members on protocol and policies, technology, and functions of the public affairs office. Public speaking, including trainings, presentations, and emceeing conferences. 

Also responsible for the management and staffing of the State of Ohio Joint Information Center (JIC).

Overseen the Delaware County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) ensuring it remained in a high state of readiness should an activation occur. Additionally, managed the emergency management volunteer program, social media content &  website, and implemented outreach and public education programs. Additionally,  managed the Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG) and had an active role in planning;  was responsible for office operations in the absence of the director.

  • Media - Creates media releases as necessary and coordinates with media on projects, stories, and interviews.

  • Outreach- coordinated social media accounts, website,  public interactions, and outreach for the office.

  • Hazmat Technician - as part of an on-call rotation, responded to hazardous materials spills throughout the county.

  • EOC - responsible for maintaining the county emergency operations center, assessment room, and joint information center in a ready state. To include audiovisual equipment, phonebooks, computers, and other equipment.
